I found this post so important because the majority of my college students born with the internet and they just grow with the sophistication of this network. less sophisticated technology are not part of their dynamic life. When I mention them that "TV-broadcasting as one of the first technological resources to approach education at distance" They do not even imagine that education can happened through the use of TV-tool. Today in this century in many remote places of different countries still is using TV-Broadcasting to have access to education as the best and inexpensive option.
When taking my doctorate classes and I mentioned distance education; everybody think about the use of internet and when I mention that TV is still used as the tool to access to education, my colleagues thought that I was behind regarding technology, but they were misinformed, since TV is use as regular media for many distance students, for example in many places in Africa and in South-America. This was my own experience when knew people who were competent than me or even better in some cases in math and science and they obtain their knowledge through the use of TV-Education Broadcasting in Mexico
It is great the chronological diagram of online education you are presenting in this post.
It is confirming that I was not wrong regarding the different instrument to have access to education.
Thank you for your great post

Abstract Introducing technology into today’s curriculum means more than just “making it work.” The principles of adult learning theory can be used in the design of technology-based instruction to make it more effective. Research on learners has shown that adults learn differently from younger students. Adults have special needs as learners and these needs should be taken into consideration when planning work-based learning for adults and preparing them for today’s technological workforce and networking through social media. The use of digital technologies for learning both supports local efforts to educate adult learners and their teachers and extends educational opportunities to reach new groups of younger students using technology. The study outlines the thoughtful integration of digital technologies into the traditional scheme of education and their use to develop new ways of learning to ensure adult students have the tools to thrive in a complex and rapidly changing technological workforce
